Tragic Early Morning Collision Claims Two Lives
A devastating car crash in the early hours of Thursday morning has resulted in the deaths of two women and left a nine-year-old boy with life-changing injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 6:20am on Common Lane in the village of Pleasley, Derbyshire.
According to Derbyshire Police, the collision involved a Suzuki Alto, carrying the two women and the young boy, and a Vauxhall Meriva. The two female victims, both in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene. The nine-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the back of the Suzuki, was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for serious, life-altering injuries.
Arrest Made and Appeal for Information
An 18-year-old man, who was driving one of the vehicles, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The suspect also sustained injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard.
Three male occupants of the Vauxhall Meriva were also injured in the crash, with two of them suffering serious wounds. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police confirmed that the families of all those involved have been notified and expressed that their thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
The police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal road traffic accident. Officers are urgently appealing to the public for assistance, stating: ‘We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision as well as anyone with any information.’
