Teenager in Life-Threatening Condition After Car Park Collision
A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious collision in Thamesmead on Sunday evening. The incident occurred outside the Gallions Reach Health Centre on Bentham Road shortly before 8pm.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called by the London Ambulance Service at 8:06pm to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
Arrest Made as Police Launch Investigation
A 16-year-old boy was subsequently arrested at the scene. He is being held in custody on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Police have confirmed that the teenage suspect remains in custody whilst enquiries into the circumstances of the crash continue.
Forensics and Appeal for Witnesses
A police cordon remains in place on Bentham Road as a forensic team was seen conducting a detailed examination of the health centre's car park. Local residents reported seeing officers gathering evidence throughout the day.
Investigators are now urgently appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They are asked to contact police on 101, quoting the reference CAD 6506/16Nov.
The London Ambulance Service stated that they were called at 7.56pm and sent an ambulance crew to the scene. The 17-year-old victim was treated for a head injury before being transported to hospital for emergency care.
