A young man has lost his life following a serious road traffic collision in North London, with three others rushed to hospital for treatment.
Details of the Fatal Enfield Collision
The incident occurred on Ferny Hill in Enfield at approximately 11.40pm on Thursday, November 6, last year. It involved a car and a van. The 18-year-old male occupant of the car sustained critical injuries and tragically passed away two days later, on Saturday, November 8.
Two other teenage boys who were in the same vehicle were also injured. One of these boys suffered what police have described as life-changing injuries. The second teenage boy sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-changing.
The 40-year-old driver of the van was also taken to hospital. His injuries have similarly been assessed as non-life changing.
Police Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses
The Metropolitan Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is conducting a thorough inquiry to establish the full circumstances of the crash. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident at this time.
Detective Constable Pauline Redmond, leading the investigation, stated: "Our investigation into the collision continues to establish the events which led to the death of an 18-year-old man. We hope we can bring a measure of comfort to his family and loved ones by understanding exactly what happened. Our thoughts continue to be with everyone impacted by this tragic incident."
Officers are now urgently appealing to the public for assistance. They believe other vehicles were using the road at the time and may hold crucial evidence.
"We are appealing for anyone who was in the area on the night of the incident to come forward," DC Redmond added. "We understand there were other vehicles using the road at the time who may have dash cam footage or further information which could aid our investigation. We urge them to contact us as soon as possible."
