A young motorcyclist has tragically died after a serious road traffic collision in South London.
Details of the Sidcup Collision
The incident occurred on Friday, November 21, at around 9pm on Main Road in Sidcup. The collision involved a motorbike and three cars. Emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police, were called to the scene at 9.58pm.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 20s, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Arrest and Police Investigation
A 21-year-old woman, who was the driver of one of the cars involved, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She was also taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing. She has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday, November 23. His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Appeal for Information
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that their investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash is ongoing. A police spokesperson reiterated an appeal to the public, stating: "Enquiries continue. If you have any information or dashcam footage that could help police, please call 101 quoting CAD 7305/21Nov."
Authorities are urging any witnesses, or anyone with relevant video footage from the area at the time, to come forward to assist with the investigation.
