Dramatic scenes unfolded on the M25 motorway this afternoon after a lorry fire brought traffic to a complete standstill, causing severe delays and a major road closure.

The incident has led to the closure of the motorway in both directions between Junction 25 (A10 Great Cambridge Road, Enfield) and Junction 24 (A111 Stagg Hill, Potters Bar). National Highways has reported severe delays of approximately 45 minutes for motorists caught in the resulting tailbacks.
Images from the scene show plumes of thick, black smoke billowing across the carriageway. A lorry appears to be completely burnt out following the intense blaze. Emergency services, including multiple fire engines and crews, are on site working to extinguish the fire.
