Tragedy on Tadcaster Lane as Teenager Killed in Collision

A teenage girl has died and another has been left with serious injuries following a devastating road traffic collision in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. The incident involved a minibus carrying a group of nine teenagers and a car.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed they are investigating the crash, which occurred on Monday 1 December 2025, shortly before 12.30pm. The collision happened at the junction of Toulston Lane and Rudgate in Tadcaster.

Details of the Incident and Casualties

The vehicles involved were a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus and a Hyundai car. According to police, the minibus was carrying nine passengers aged between 16 and 18.

Tragically, one girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Another teenage girl was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries; however, these are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

The other seven passengers and the male driver of the minibus were all treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Police Investigation and Road Closure

In connection with the investigation, the driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old woman, has been arrested.

Officers have issued a public appeal for information. They are urging any witnesses to the collision, or motorists who may have relevant dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicles involved prior to it, to come forward and assist their enquiries.

Toulston Lane was closed to traffic for a significant period to allow for a thorough forensic examination of the scene and for recovery work to take place.
