A car has crashed into the top floor of a terraced house in Sittingbourne, Kent, after flying through the air and hitting the property's bathroom window. The incident occurred on Monday night, leaving a 39-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and two people taken to hospital.

The Audi left the road, went through bushes, and flew several feet through the air before smashing into the top floor of a house in Sunny Bank, down an embankment. The vehicle had come from the direction of Dolphin Road and Church Road in Murston before losing control. It is understood to have flown over a back garden and fencing before hitting the bathroom window and crashing to the ground.
The crash caused significant damage to the property, which sits at the bottom of a bank off Church Road. A large hole is visible in the house, with broken roof tiles and guttering clearly damaged, and a window hanging off. Neighbours were woken by the sound of 'two booms' as the car collided with the house.
Police Response and Arrest
Police said a 39-year-old woman, who remains in hospital in a stable condition, had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. A force spokesman said: 'Officers attended and two people who were inside the vehicle were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries. A third person who was inside the vehicle did not require hospital treatment.'
Detectives say their inquiries are ongoing and officers remain at the scene. The accident happened near notorious width-restricting bollards, designed to prevent access for larger vehicles such as HGVs.

People living nearby said the family living in the house were not in at the time. One mum, who did not want to be named, says she was 'dozing off' when she heard 'two booms'. She said: 'I looked out my window and saw the Audi on the floor. I called the police and they came pretty quickly. Luckily, there was no one in the house when it happened. There were three people in the car and they were taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I really feel for the family. We always say "hi" and "bye" when we see them around.'
Another neighbour, who also did not want to be named, said: 'I heard a large bang and at first thought it was someone crashing into the bollards. But then I heard another one so looked out my window and just saw lots of dust. All I know is that a car crashed into the house, then the police turned up.' A third homeowner added: 'I slept through it but heard about it the next day. God knows how fast the driver must have been going to come off the road like that.'
