GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek has teased a potential 'Nudist Town' video as Rockstar Games intensifies efforts to identify the person responsible for a series of gameplay leaks. Ten videos have surfaced online since August 18, with four more released over the weekend, ahead of the official Netflix Extended Look scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at 8pm BST.
Leaked footage reveals new gameplay details
The leaked clips, attributed to a person or group known as Cyberleek, have showcased various features of the upcoming game. These include fuel management systems for vehicles, basketball minigames, cut scenes, and protagonist Jason writing the word 'leek' in bullets on a wall. The latter suggests the leaker possesses a playable build of GTA 6, not just video captures.
Over the weekend, Cyberleek released four additional clips, bringing the total to ten. While the videos cannot be shared for legal reasons, the first new clip shows Jason robbing petrol stations, confirming that players can refill fuel and repair vehicles at pumps. Another video depicts Jason stealing a car while a non-playable character shouts, 'Stop! The government's stealing my gas!'
Strip club, binoculars, and plane sequences
Other videos show Jason walking through a strip club, using binoculars to observe his surroundings, and flying a plane over Vice City at night. The plane sequence reportedly confirms several in-game songs, including 'Go Insane' by Lindsey Buckingham, 'Devil Woman' by Cliff Richard, and 'Smile' by Jamiroquai, among others.
Cyberleek has posted a poll on their website asking which clip to release next, with options including 'Beach', 'Nudist Town', and 'Strip Club 2'. The leaker claims the leaks are a protest against Rockstar's decision not to launch GTA 6 on a disc, but they are also soliciting funding via cryptocurrency, a factor that could weigh against them in any future legal proceedings.
Rockstar and Take-Two respond
According to a Bloomberg report from Friday, Rockstar has not yet identified the leaker or determined how the leaks occurred. The report states that Rockstar's leaders and employees are 'angry' and 'frustrated', as this marks the second time the sequel has been compromised by leaks. The first incident in 2022 involved a lone hacker who received an indefinite hospital order, but that breach revealed no significant details.
Rockstar management is reportedly 'all hands on deck' in the effort to trace the leak's origin. Separately, Kotaku reports that publisher Take-Two Interactive has filed subpoena requests to Microsoft and Discord for records related to online accounts involved in posting or sharing the leaked content.
On August 24, a video surfaced online allegedly showing Rockstar's lawyers visiting a residence. The person in question, who goes by the name Pilotx1970 on Reddit, had posted that something GTA 6-related would happen on August 18, the day the leaks began. Pilotx1970 claims to be innocent and says they 'accidentally guessed' the date. The clip does not mention Rockstar or GTA 6, making its legitimacy difficult to verify amid a wave of fake clips and scams.
Netflix showcase approaches
Despite these efforts, Rockstar has yet to identify the source of the leaks. It remains unclear whether the leaks will escalate following the Netflix showcase. Recent reports suggesting the show would be 30 minutes long have been discredited, and no details on its duration or format have been confirmed.
