Sony has announced new downloadable content for Ghost Of Yōtei, including a story expansion and a roguelike mode, set to launch on October 1, 2026. The announcement also introduces a Complete Edition of the game, bundling the base game, the co-op Legends mode, and the new additions for £69.99.
Story Expansion: Echoes Of Sekigahara
The story expansion, titled Echoes Of Sekigahara, will be available on October 1, 2026. According to the PlayStation Blog, the expansion is 'split between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland'. It features a 'previously unseen valley' and introduces new heavy weapons, armour sets, dyes, and other extras.
Players who already own Ghost Of Yōtei can purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for £11.99, which grants access to both the story expansion and the new roguelike mode, along with cosmetic extras from the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Roguelike Mode: Most Wanted
On the same day, a new single-player combat survival mode called Ghost Of Yōtei: Most Wanted will launch. This mode involves runs to earn new perks and unlock new characters, with Oyuki and Nagato confirmed as playable alongside Atsu. The mode is designed to offer a challenging, replayable experience.
For those who haven't purchased Ghost Of Yōtei yet, the Complete Edition includes the base game, Legends, and both new additions, available for £69.99. A pre-order bonus offers early unlock of the Sakai Armour for Atsu, a callback to Jin’s family armour from Ghost Of Tsushima, if purchased before September 30.
Free Updates and Accessibility
On October 1, a free patch will introduce the Beauty Of Yōtei mode, which 'allows for a screensaver-like view of the environments of Ezo to keep on and relax at home'. The patch also includes quality-of-life features, such as the ability to keep the same armour’s appearance while using different stats, and a high-contrast accessibility option.
These updates aim to enhance the player experience and broaden the game's appeal. Ghost Of Yōtei launched on October 2, 2025, and sold 3.3 million copies in its first month, outpacing its predecessor, according to Sony in February 2026.
The Complete Edition and DLC arrive as Sony lacks a major AAA title for the Christmas season, positioning Ghost Of Yōtei as a key release to boost sales in the run-up to the holidays.
