First announced in September last year, Sea Lanes is a new fresh water swimming pool that will float on top of the Thames. The open air lido, measuring 50 metres in length and 1.3 metres deep, will feature six swimming lanes designed to cater to all ages and capabilities, from family dips to serious cold-water plunges.
Canary Wharf is already home to one outdoor swimming area, but unlike the existing Eden Dock, which is open for swimming in the summer and early autumn, Sea Lanes will be available to book year round. The pool is filled with naturally filtered freshwater, completely cut off from the river. Alongside the pool, the swimming complex will also feature two steamy, glass-fronted saunas that are powered entirely by renewable energy. For those feeling peckish after swimming, there will be food and drink served at the community clubhouse, which is set to host wellness events and even offer a wetsuit concierge service.
