Three children and a woman are in A&E after a serious car crash in South London early Sunday morning. The incident occurred on East Dulwich Grove in East Dulwich, involving two cars. A man, the driver of one vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in hospital in stable condition. Authorities confirmed that none of the injuries are life-threatening or life-changing.

The collision took place at approximately 12:20 am on April 26. Emergency services responded swiftly, with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) dispatching multiple resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and incident response officers. A trauma team from London's Air Ambulance also attended the scene. In total, seven people were taken to hospital. The second car's occupants were not injured.
Police Statement
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated: “At around 12:20am on Sunday, April 26, a car was in collision with a second car in East Dulwich Grove, East Dulwich. Three children and a woman in the first car were taken to hospital with injuries. None of them were deemed to be life-threatening or changing. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken to hospital with injuries, where he remains in a stable condition. No one from the second car was injured. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police quoting 128/26April.”
Ambulance Service Response
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 12:21am today (April 26) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of East Dulwich Grove and Matham Grove, East Dulwich. We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and incident response officers to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. We treated multiple patients at the scene and conveyed seven patients to hospital.”
Investigation Ongoing
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and the arrested driver remains under police custody while receiving medical treatment.
