Transport for London has unveiled proposals to withdraw bus route 67 and alter the route of the 149 bus in north London, citing lower post-pandemic ridership. The changes are part of a broader review of the capital's bus network.
Route 67 to be withdrawn entirely
Route 67 currently runs between Wood Green and Dalston Junction. Under the proposal, the route would be completely withdrawn. The 149 bus would be rerouted to cover the stops currently served by the 67, except for Stop N at Dalston Junction Bus Station. Passengers would instead use Stop C on Kingsland Road.
Route 149 to start in Wood Green
The 149 bus currently operates between Edmonton Green and London Bridge. TfL wants to change the northern part of its route to begin in Wood Green instead of Edmonton Green. This would mean the bus would no longer serve the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bruce Grove, Seven Sisters, or South Tottenham. The new route would stop at Turnpike Lane, West Green Road, La Rose Lane, and St Anne's Road before rejoining the original route at Stamford Hill. From there, it would continue along Kingsland Road through Haggerston, Hoxton, Shoreditch, Liverpool Street, and Monument, terminating at London Bridge.
Public consultation open until September 20
The proposals are not final. TfL is holding an eight-week public consultation until September 20 to hear from Londoners about the potential impact. According to TfL, the changes aim to 'better reflect current traffic levels' and adapt to changing travel patterns. Similar adjustments were made earlier this year, with six routes proposed for changes in January and 13 routes reduced in March.
