A man has been rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on the North Circular in South Woodford. The crash, which involved up to three cars, occurred at approximately 1:05 PM on Thursday, May 21, on the A406 North Circular Eastbound.
Road Closure and Diversions
The incident forced the closure of the A406 from A104 Woodford New Road (Waterworks Corner) to the M11 (Charlie Brown's Flyover). This led to significant delays, with three bus routes—123, 275, and SL2—being diverted. No arrests were made in connection with the crash.
Emergency Response
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson stated: “We were called at 12:46 PM to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Maybank Road and A406, South Woodford. We dispatched an ambulance crew, a motorcycle paramedic, and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a man at the scene and transported him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the man’s injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing. The road has since reopened, and investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
