London Luton Airport has issued a travel warning for passengers with upcoming bookings this July, as daytime road closures on New Airport Way are expected to cause disruption. The airport took to social media to urge travellers to check their journeys and make alternative arrangements where necessary.
Road closure details
According to a post on X by @LDNLutonAirport, New Airport Way will be closed between Gipsy Lane and the Luton Airport Way roundabout for three days, from Monday 20th July to Wednesday 22nd July, between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM each day. Traffic will be diverted via New Airport Way, Luton Airport Way roundabout, and Airport Way.
The airport's website provides further information, advising passengers to plan ahead and allow extra time. The closure is expected to affect both those arriving at and departing from the airport during those hours.
Advice for passengers
London Luton Airport recommends that all passengers arrive in good time to drop off bags and clear security. Check-in desks and bag drop facilities open two hours before flight time, and boarding gates close approximately 40 minutes before scheduled departure. The airport also offers a free Prebook Security service, allowing passengers to reserve a 30-minute window to skip queues, available for arrivals between 3 AM and 3 PM. This service can be booked from four days before travel up to 60 minutes before arrival at security, subject to availability.
Passengers can find the latest travel information, including rail and road disruption updates, on the airport's official website.
