Live Possum Discovered Among Plush Toys at Hobart Airport Gift Shop
A passenger browsing in a gift shop at Hobart Airport in Tasmania made an extraordinary discovery on Wednesday morning when they stumbled upon a real, living brushtail possum nestled among the plush toy kangaroos, bilbies, dingoes, and Tasmanian devils. The marsupial was found peering out from the shelves of the Lagardère AWPL retail store, creating a delightful surprise for both staff and customers.
Passenger Reports Unusual Find
According to retail manager Liam Bloomfield, the passenger reported the sighting to a staff member who initially couldn't believe what she was hearing. "She then called the airport management and said: we've got a possum in the store," Bloomfield explained. The possum remained remarkably calm throughout the incident, and airport officials safely escorted the animal out of the terminal without any problems.
Staff Create Memorial for Marsupial Visitor
Following the possum's departure, store staff have been voting on what to name their unexpected visitor. Bloomfield revealed plans to create a small shrine in the shop's honor. "We'll have a little shrine to the possum. There will be a nice little photo; once it gets a name, we will put a nice little post in front of the store to make sure it's remembered," he said.
