A 70-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a moped on Kilburn High Road in North West London. The incident occurred at approximately 2:49pm on Monday, July 27, at a junction on the busy thoroughfare.
Arrest and charges
A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and later additionally arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing.
Emergency response
Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, alongside London's Air Ambulance, provided emergency treatment at the scene. The victim was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where his condition is described as life-threatening.
Road closure and investigation
Kilburn High Road was closed for several hours while police cordoned off the area and conducted their investigation. The road has since reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference CAD 4576/27July.
