A private jet has been left stranded following what authorities are calling a 'serious incident' at a major London airport, prompting an immediate safety investigation.

The incident, classified as a runway excursion, occurred at London Biggin Hill Airport in Bromley on Tuesday, 6 January 2026. The aircraft, with the tail number D-ISCV, reportedly slid off the runway during its departure phase. It was bound for Geneva International Airport in Switzerland at the time.
A witness travelling on a bus told local media they spotted the stranded plane at approximately 11.20am. In response to the event, flight activity at the airport was temporarily halted as part of standard safety protocols.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) was notified immediately and has confirmed it has commenced a formal probe. A spokesperson for the AAIB stated: "The AAIB was notified of a serious incident involving an aircraft that was departing Biggin Hill airport on 6 January. An investigation has commenced, and enquiries are being made."
An airport spokesperson provided a statement confirming the event and the subsequent recovery operation: "We can confirm that a runway excursion took place at London Biggin Hill airport earlier today, 6 January 2026. The AAIB was immediately informed, and flight activity at the airport was stopped in line with appropriate safety procedures. We are currently in the process of recovering the aircraft, which we expect to complete later today [Tuesday]."
