London Heathrow Airport has been crowned the world's best airport for shopping in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards. With over 300 shops and 57,000 square metres of retail space — equivalent to around 10 football pitches — Heathrow offers an unparalleled shopping experience for travellers.
Retail Highlights
The airport features high-end designers such as Burberry, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton, as well as its own branch of Harrods. Luxury chocolate brand Charbonnel et Walker, Hot Chocolat, and even a Toblerone store cater to sweet-toothed passengers. For last-minute souvenirs, the tourist gift shop Glorious Britain is on hand.
Customer Experiences
Heathrow's World Duty Free zones in each terminal have garnered hundreds of positive reviews on Google. One customer wrote: "I had a fantastic experience at World Duty Free, Heathrow Airport (Terminal 2). I purchased several perfumes, and I want to especially recognise Eric, who assisted me... Customer service like this truly makes a difference, especially while travelling." Another added: "Had a wonderful experience with Katarzyna in the new Jo Malone store in Heathrow Terminal 2. She was lovely, friendly, helpful and made excellent suggestions!! Already excited for our next time in London... including another stop at this impressive new Jo Malone store."
Skytrax Survey Results
Skytrax, a leading travel surveyor, analysed data from 575 airports worldwide, evaluating factors such as baggage times, cleanliness, and customer service. Heathrow triumphed over Singapore Changi, which ranked second, while Abu Dhabi trailed in sixth place. The award underscores Heathrow's commitment to providing a world-class shopping environment for millions of passengers each year.
