Rugby Star Ellie Kildunne Announced as Heathrow's Christmas Voice
Ellie Kildunne to be Heathrow's Christmas voice

Heathrow Airport has enlisted a sporting hero to spread festive cheer this Christmas, announcing that Rugby World Cup winner Ellie Kildunne will be the official voice of the travel hub throughout December.

A Sporting Voice for the Festive Season

The west London airport confirmed that public address messages recorded by the 26-year-old England star will be broadcast across its four terminals. Kildunne, a key player in England's World Cup victory, will welcome the millions of passengers passing through what is forecast to be the airport's busiest festive season on record.

In her announcements, the athlete will share her personal perspective on the season, stating that "the world feels a little brighter at Christmas." For Kildunne, this period is about "reconnecting, recharging and remembering what really matters."

Heathrow's Busiest Festive Period

The airport is preparing for a significant surge in passenger numbers, with more than seven million travellers expected to pass through its facilities in December alone. This announcement is part of Heathrow's strategy to enhance the passenger experience during this peak time.

Kildunne expressed her honour at being selected for the role, saying: "Christmas is a time for celebration and for me, I'm looking forward to marking what a big year it's been. I'm honoured to be involved in the festivities at Heathrow this year – whether that be passengers reconnecting with loved ones or stepping onto their holiday flight, I'll be on the tannoys bringing the Christmas cheer for all."

Adding a Unique Touch to the Airport Experience

Daniel Edwards, Heathrow's director of services, explained the thinking behind the partnership. "Christmas is a truly special time at Heathrow, as thousands of passengers reunite with loved ones and begin their festive journeys," he said.

He added: "By partnering with Ellie as our first-ever voice of Britain, we're adding a unique seasonal touch to the airport experience, that we hope will spark some joy and get travellers into the Christmas spirit from the moment they arrive at Heathrow."

This initiative marks the first time Heathrow has appointed a 'voice of Britain' for its festive communications, selecting a celebrated athlete to connect with passengers during one of the most emotionally significant travel periods of the year.
