A 79-year-old British holidaymaker has died on board a cruise ship off the Greek island of Crete after falling unresponsive. The man, who has not been named, was sailing in the Mediterranean when the vessel docked at Crete due to the medical emergency.
First aid and hospital declaration
Ship crew administered first aid, but he was later declared dead at a local hospital. Port officials in Chania have launched a preliminary investigation, according to the Daily Mail. The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
Previous cruise ship death
This incident follows another British passenger death earlier this month on a cruise ship near Corfu. That 67-year-old was sailing on a vessel flying the Maltese flag.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
