Passenger Killed in Barnet Car Crash Identified; Driver Charged
Barnet Crash Victim Named; Driver, 20, Charged

A passenger who died in a late-night car crash on a Barnet high street has been identified for the first time. Sheikh Ayyub Sultan Luchmum, aged in his 20s, lost his life when a Volkswagen Golf and a Nissan Qashqai collided in Whetstone on May 14.

Emergency services were called to the junction of High Road and Chandos Avenue at approximately 11:30 pm, where Mr. Luchmum, seated in the front of the Volkswagen, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

Two rear passengers from the same vehicle, a man and a woman also in their 20s, were transported to the hospital with potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that both have since been discharged.

Driver Charged

Police arrested the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. Hasan Hussain, from Tyndall Road, Leyton, has been charged with three counts and appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on May 19. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Harrow Crown Court on Tuesday, June 16.

Mr. Luchmum's next of kin continue to receive support from specialist officers with the Met.

Other Details

The driver of the Nissan, a woman in her 20s, was also taken to the hospital and has since been discharged.
