Wigan Warriors delivered a stunning performance to defeat St Helens 32-0 in the Challenge Cup semi-final, booking their place in the final for the 34th time. The victory was particularly sweet as Wigan entered the match as underdogs, having lost four consecutive Super League games before a recent win against Bradford.

St Helens, who sat joint-top of Super League with five straight wins, were completely outplayed. Wigan's early try from Jack Farrimond set the tone, and three more tries in nine minutes before halftime put the game beyond reach. Zach Eckersley scored twice, and Jake Wardle intercepted a lazy pass to score on the stroke of halftime, leaving Saints 22-0 down.
St Helens Struggle Without Captain
Paul Rowley's side lost captain Matty Lees to injury in the first tackle, which disrupted their game plan. However, Saints lacked creativity in attack and failed to capitalize on possession. Rowley admitted disappointment: "We didn't put ourselves in the picture by having enough excitement and energy at the right times."
Second Half Dominance
Wigan continued to control the game after the break, with St Helens unable to break through. Late tries from Farrimond and Adam Keighran sealed the 32-0 rout. Coach Matt Peet praised his team's desire: "The desire to really turn up for one another, get the job done and make some special efforts was brilliant."
Final Awaits
Wigan will face either Hull KR or Warrington Wolves in the final on 30 May at Wembley. The Warriors are chasing a record-extending 22nd Challenge Cup title, and their form suggests they will be difficult to beat.
