Thomas Tuchel has finalized his 26-man England squad for the upcoming World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with the official announcement set for Friday morning. The squad features some big calls, including the inclusion of Ivan Toney and the exclusion of Harry Maguire, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden.
Goalkeepers
Jordan Pickford remains the undisputed No. 1, with Dean Henderson and James Trafford as likely backups. Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope have been overlooked, while Tuchel considered Jason Steele as a non-playing training goalkeeper.
Defenders
Harry Maguire was left out despite recent call-ups, with Tuchel favoring Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi, John Stones, Dan Burn, and Jarell Quansah. Fitness concerns surround John Stones and Reece James, who have had limited game time. Tino Livramento is expected to prove his fitness, while Ben White is out injured. Luke Shaw and Nico O'Reilly are options at left-back.
Midfielders
Declan Rice is a starter, with Elliot Anderson partnering him. Jordan Henderson provides experience and leadership. Kobbie Mainoo earns a spot after his return to form at Manchester United, while Adam Wharton and Alex Scott miss out. James Garner could sneak in due to his versatility.
Forwards
Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze, and Morgan Rogers are the three No. 10s, with Cole Palmer and Phil Foden omitted due to underwhelming seasons. Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Gordon lead the wide areas. Harry Kane is supported by Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, who returns as a surprise inclusion. Danny Welbeck, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Dominic Solanke are unlucky to miss out.
