Spurs Seek Attacking Reinforcements in Bid to Salvage Season
Tottenham Hotspur find themselves at a critical juncture in their season, languishing in 14th place in the Premier League and five points adrift of the European qualification spots. With pressure mounting on manager Thomas Frank and the squad dealing with a fresh injury to key attacker Mohammed Kudus, the January transfer window has taken on heightened importance for the North London club.
Marmoush Emerges as Key Striking Target
In their search for attacking solutions, Tottenham have identified Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush as a potential target this month. The Egyptian international played a pivotal role in City's resurgence last season but has seen limited opportunities in the current campaign, making just two Premier League starts.
According to reports from CaughtOffside, Spurs are ready to rival Aston Villa for the player's signature, should Pep Guardiola's side decide to make him available. City's potential move for Antoine Semenyo could precipitate Marmoush's departure, presenting an opportunity for either Premier League suitor to secure a proven top-flight attacker.
Roma Make Contact for Dragusin
Meanwhile, there could be movement in the opposite direction concerning defender Radu Dragusin. The Romanian centre-back, who can also operate in holding midfield, is reportedly attracting interest from Italian Serie A side AS Roma.
As reported by transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma have now stepped up their pursuit and have made direct contact with the player's representatives. Dragusin, who endured a difficult first season at Spurs amidst a defensive injury crisis, subsequently suffered a serious knee injury that ruled him out for the end of last season and a significant portion of this one. He has only recently returned to full fitness.
Frank Focuses on Performance Amid Scrutiny
When questioned about the urgent need for new signings at his press conference on Thursday, manager Thomas Frank deflected focus onto his team's recent performances. He pointed to the last five matches against Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Sunderland, and Bournemouth as evidence of consistent, competitive displays.
"Those five games should have given us more than the five points we got," Frank stated. "Probably eight, nine, 10 points and if you get that from those games, it's different." He acknowledged the intense scrutiny but emphasised his role in steering the team through the storm, stating his willingness to shoulder the blame while building resilience within the squad.
The coming weeks will be decisive for Tottenham's ambitions. Success in the transfer market, starting with potential moves for targets like Marmoush and decisions on players like Dragusin, could provide the spark needed to reverse their fortunes and mount a challenge for a European place.
