Chelsea have placed 11 players on the transfer list, according to The Athletic, as manager Xabi Alonso moves to streamline his squad following a summer spending spree that has already exceeded £300 million. Among the most high-profile names available are midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who could command a fee of £120 million, and winger Pedro Neto, priced at around £75 million.
Record spending triggers clear-out
The Blues have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market, with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa for £117 million, Maxence Lacroix joining from Crystal Palace for £52 million, and Marco Palestra signing from Atalanta for £47 million. Further additions include Geovany Quenda (£40m), Valentin Barco (£34m), and Emmanuel Emegha (£21m), while Danny Welbeck arrived from Brighton for £5 million.
According to The Athletic, both Fernandez and Neto are not on the 'not for sale' list, meaning the club is open to offers. Fernandez, who was signed for a then-Premier League record fee of £107 million in 2023, has been linked with Real Madrid, while Neto has been tipped for a reunion with former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca at Manchester City.
Defensive departures on the cards
In defence, Malo Gusto is valued at around £75 million, while Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi could each be sold for approximately £30 million. Trevoh Chalobah has already agreed a £31 million move to Serie A side Como.
The club's attacking options are also under scrutiny, with six senior strikers on the books after Welbeck's arrival. Liam Delap, who scored just one Premier League goal last season, is the most likely to leave, with Chelsea hoping to make a profit on the £30 million they paid for him a year ago. Nicolas Jackson, who has returned from a season-long loan at Bayern Munich, could fetch around £65 million.
Other fringe players available
Emmanuel Emegha, announced as a Chelsea player last September but yet to play a minute for the club, may depart this summer. Marc Guiu and David Datro Fofana are also available, with fees of £25 million and £3 million respectively.
Chelsea's need to trim their squad is clear, given the sheer volume of signings made under Alonso's leadership. The club's transfer activity has been relentless, with a total of ten players arriving this window, including free agent Jordan Henderson and young prospects Denner and Dastan Satpaev.
