Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds and Oliver Glasner's Future After Conference League Win
Crystal Palace Manager Odds and Glasner's Next Move

Oliver Glasner signed off in style at Crystal Palace by winning the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday night, but what is next for him and the Eagles? It has been a brilliant spell in charge in south London for the Austrian coach, having won the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history last season. A Community Shield triumph followed and now Palace are celebrating their first ever European silverware after beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in Leipzig. The 51-year-old only moved to Selhurst Park in February 2024 but announced in January this year that he would be leaving this summer when his contract comes to an end.

It is a big blow for the Eagles after the success he has brought them, but Glasner leaves the club in a far better state than he found it when he replaced Roy Hodgson. With Palace in the Europa League next season, who will they be able to attract to take over from Glasner? And what is next for the Austrian, who has proved himself at Palace and in his previous job, winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The clear favourite to replace Glasner is a manager in a similar situation, leaving a club at the end of his contract after an impressive period in charge. Andoni Iraola is departing Bournemouth after guiding them to sixth in the Premier League and qualification for next season’s Europa League. The 43-year-old has been linked with bigger jobs, including Liverpool and AC Milan, but has held talks with Palace and the Eagles could pull off a huge coup by signing the Spaniard. The move would be disappointing for Cherries fans as Palace finished 15th in the Premier League this season and both clubs will be in the same European competition in the next campaign.

Next Crystal Palace manager odds: Andoni Iraola 4/9, Jose Bordalas 8/1, Thomas Frank 12/1, Marcelino Toral 14/1, Frank Lampard 16/1, Pierre Sage 16/1, Gareth Southgate 20/1, Gary O’Neil 20/1, Kieran McKenna 20/1, Pep Lijnders 20/1, Roger Schmidt 20/1, Sean Dyche 20/1, Robbie Keane 20/1. Also believed to be a candidate is experienced Spanish boss Jose Bordalas, who is currently in his second stint in charge of Getafe. The 62-year-old has also managed the likes of Valencia and Alaves, but his first spell with Getafe is where he really made his name, guiding them to their best-ever La Liga finish of fifth in 2019. Former Brentford and Spurs manager Thomas Frank is near the top of the betting list, as is Marcelino, who has been in charge of Villarreal since November 2023.

What’s next for Oliver Glasner?

The 51-year-old is being most strongly linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen after a disappointing season saw them finish sixth in the Bundesliga. Manager Kasper Hjulmand is expected to be dismissed and Glasner is on a shortlist of targets to replace him. The outgoing Palace boss had been linked with the Chelsea and Manchester United jobs but those roles have now been filled for next season. He may choose to take some time off and wait for a big job to open up elsewhere, as he did previously, leaving Frankfurt at the end of the 2022/23 season and joining Palace in February 2024.
