Police have launched a manhunt after a moped rider fled the scene of a fatal crash that killed a 24-year-old e-bike cyclist in Ladbroke Grove early this morning. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene on North Pole Road, and his family have been informed, though he has not yet been formally named.
Emergency services respond to fatal collision
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to North Pole Road at approximately 1:15am following reports of a man seriously injured. The cyclist, aged 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. The moped involved in the collision made off before emergency services arrived.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed they received a call at 1:22am on Friday, September 25. A spokesperson said: "We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. The first paramedic arrived in less than two minutes. Sadly a person was found dead at the scene."
Road closed for forensic investigation
North Pole Road has been closed for nearly 14 hours as forensic teams meticulously comb the area for evidence. The closure has forced diversions for London buses routes 7 and 70, affecting local commuters throughout the day.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Wilkins, leading the investigation from Hammersmith and Fulham CID, said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at what is a very difficult time. We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and trace the moped driver."
Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Authorities are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward. DCI Wilkins added: "As part of this, we're urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible. If you have any information that could help, please come forward."
The investigation is ongoing, and police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision. The moped rider has not yet been identified, and no arrests have been made.
