Brighton Thrash Relegated Wolves 3-0 to Boost European Hopes
Brighton Beat Wolves 3-0 for European Push

Brighton reignited their European push with a dominant 3-0 victory over relegated Wolves at the Amex Stadium, a result that prompted Wolves manager Rob Edwards to promise a summer clearout.

Fast Start Seals the Game

Jack Hinshelwood headed home inside 35 seconds, registering Brighton's fastest Premier League goal. Captain Lewis Dunk then doubled the lead in the fifth minute, escaping the marking of Joao Gomes to nod in a second. Yankuba Minteh completed the scoring late on as Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler celebrated his new contract in style.

Wolves' Woes Continue

Rock-bottom Wolves remain without a league victory on the road this term after their 13th defeat from 18 away games. Edwards expressed frustration: "It's incredibly frustrating, it looked like we were still in our nice hotel for the first five minutes. The start was atrocious."

Regarding the marking error for Dunk's goal, Edwards said: "It wasn't planned. It was a decision they just made at that moment. I can't account for it, but we've had a lot of that, and that's why we are where we are."

Edwards Promises Changes

Edwards, who replaced Vitor Pereira in November, confirmed he has lost patience with some players. "Some of them have got to go. We're bottom of the league. It's been embarrassing. They've got to go. We've got two more games, so suck it up, keep our heads down, and then we can really get to work. There's going to be a lot of change."

Wolves, without a top-flight away win since April last year, nearly pulled one back when Yerson Mosquera hit the bar and Hwang Hee-chan struck the post, but the offside flag may have saved them. Brighton controlled the game comfortably.

Hurzeler Delighted

Hurzeler, who extended his deal to June 2029, praised his side's response to last week's loss at Newcastle. "We had the whole week to get our minds in the right spot. The great start helped us control and dominate the game. I'm really happy working with this group. The future can be very exciting."

The only downside was Kaoru Mitoma limping off with a hamstring issue a month before the World Cup. Hurzeler said: "We have to wait for the scan. It didn't look great, but I'm positive."
