New Shoreditch Half Marathon Announced for London This September
New Shoreditch Half Marathon Coming to London

A brand new half marathon event is set to arrive in London later this year, bringing thousands of runners to the streets of East London. Organisers have officially announced the Run Shoreditch Half, which will take place on Sunday, September 20, with approximately 10,000 participants expected to compete.

Expanding from 10K to Half Marathon Distance

The event represents a significant expansion from its previous format, having debuted as a 10K race last year. The newly configured half marathon will feature an extended loop course that begins at Shoreditch Park, taking runners through the neighbouring boroughs of Hackney and Islington on closed roads.

Community Focus and Event Features

Event organisers have emphasised the community-oriented nature of the race, promising multiple cheer zones along the route, live musical performances, and official pacers to help participants achieve their target finish times. The race aims to celebrate East London's distinctive running culture while fostering community spirit among participants and spectators alike.

The Run Shoreditch Half is a collaborative venture between running brand Saucony and event specialists Motiv Sports UK, the same team responsible for organising the popular London 10K and the sold-out Hackney Half marathon. This partnership brings together industry expertise with deep connections to London's running community.

Addressing High Demand for Half Marathons

Ian Allerton, Managing Director at Motiv Sports, highlighted the growing demand for half marathon events in the capital. "We all recognise that there's substantial demand for more half marathon opportunities, particularly within London where we maintain such strong relationships with the local running community," he explained.

"The Saucony Run Shoreditch Half will represent a valuable addition to London's racing calendar, providing runners with further opportunities to experience the 13.1-mile distance, especially given that numerous half marathons for 2026 have already reached capacity."

Registration Details and Participant Perks

An early access waitlist has already opened for prospective participants, with full registration scheduled to commence on Wednesday, February 4. Entry prices will start from £45, with registered runners receiving a finisher's medal, commemorative event t-shirt, and chip-timed race results as part of their participation package.

The complete race route will be finalised and announced in the coming months, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with the course ahead of race day. Organisers have confirmed the event will champion East London's distinctive blend of running culture, musical heritage, and community values.

Building on Previous Success

Cameron Black, Vice President and General Manager at Saucony, expressed enthusiasm about the event's evolution. "Witnessing this event develop into a full half marathon is tremendously exciting, and serves as testament to the strength of the local running community that consistently shows up, supports one another, and runs collectively," he stated.

"We take pride in continuing to build something meaningful alongside Motiv Sports and the boroughs of Hackney and Islington, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming runners back to Shoreditch this September."

The Run Shoreditch Half arrives just four months after the completely sold-out Hackney Half marathon, indicating strong continuing interest in organised running events across London. With its focus on community engagement and celebration of local culture, this new addition to London's racing calendar promises to become a highlight for both competitive and recreational runners throughout the capital and beyond.
