Hall Place & Gardens in Bexley will host a new immersive winter light trail, 'The Tale of a Winter Whale', from Thursday, December 3 to Sunday, December 6. The event, created by outdoor arts specialists Same Sky, follows the success of last year's 'Alice and the Queen's Beasts' trail, which attracted more than 4,000 visitors during its four-day run.
Immersive Ocean-Inspired Trail
The illuminated after-dark experience will guide visitors through the historic gardens, featuring giant lanterns, glowing sea creatures, and interactive storytelling inspired by oceans worldwide. Guests will follow a whale on a quest while Neptune searches for a loved one, encountering mermaids, pirates, and other magical characters along the way as they journey through tropical waters and icy Arctic seas.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £15.50 for adults and £10.50 for children. Councillor Rags Sandhu, Bexley Council's cabinet member for environment, culture and leisure, said: "After the incredible joy and popularity of our previous winter light trail 'Alice and the Queen's Beasts', we are thrilled to bring a brand-new magical adventure to Hall Place & Gardens. 'The Tale of a Winter Whale' promises a truly unique and immersive evening for the whole family to enjoy right here in Bexley."
Additional Festive Attractions
Alongside the light trail, visitors can explore a Christmas festive market featuring up to 30 stalls in the Visitor Centre Courtyard. Free entertainment from local music and dance performers will take place on the community stage throughout the four-day event. Jambs Owls will offer festive owl visits and experiences, while the Riverside Café will serve seasonal food and drinks.
At the weekend, additional attractions include Hall Place Bexley Farmers Market on Sunday, December 6, and miniature railway rides operated by the Welling and District Model Engineering Society on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6.
High Demand Expected
Amy Keogh, chief executive of Same Sky, said: "We're thrilled to be back at Hall Place & Gardens for this year's Winter Light Trail. Following the success of last year's Alice and the Queen's Beasts event, we promise this year will be bigger and more impressive, with even more wonderful performances, lights and excitement."
Organisers say tickets are expected to be in high demand following the popularity of last year's event. More information and tickets are available at www.hallplace.org.uk/events.
