Tributes are pouring in for a devoted father who was killed after a car struck pedestrians in North West London this week, as police make an arrest on suspicion of murder.

A Life Cut Short in Willesden

Ruben Nunes, 34, from Peterborough, died at the scene on Chapel Close, Willesden, at approximately 12.45pm on Wednesday, December 3. The incident occurred when a vehicle collided with pedestrians. Emergency services attended, but Mr Nunes was pronounced dead.

In a significant development, detectives from the Metropolitan Police arrested a 29-year-old man yesterday, Thursday, December 4. He was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, indicating the force is treating the tragic event as a deliberate act.

'A Truly Blessed Soul': Family's Heartbreaking Tribute

The family of Ruben Nunes have released a loving tribute alongside a photograph, remembering him as a cornerstone of their lives. They described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, father, and partner who was fiercely loyal to his friends.

"He loved football and was a big Liverpool fan," they said. "Ruben had a light within him - he brightened the lives of everyone he touched. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and he will always be remembered as a truly blessed soul."

Friends and Community in Mourning

The wave of grief has extended to friends and the wider community. Social media figure and podcaster known as Lippy paid an emotional tribute to his friend on Instagram, sharing images of them together.

He referred to Mr Nunes by the nickname 'Switch', writing: "Yesterday we lost our skipper, our captain, the guy that set the tone. He didn’t ever fall out with anyone, whenever anyone fell out he was the one that would sort it." He added, "Death don’t stop nothing, we will see you again my brother."

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, expressed his condolences. "This is a distressing incident and we understand the concern it will cause for the local community. Our thoughts are with Ruben’s family and friends at this difficult time," he stated.

He confirmed residents will see an increased police presence as the investigation continues, urging the public to speak to officers with any concerns. Police are actively appealing for information, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area at the time of the collision.
