Superman actor Dean Cain attempted to portray Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair as a success, but video evidence showed otherwise. In a clip shared by TMZ, Cain told Dr Oz on live television: ‘There are tons of people here, it’s a huge space, and it’s just going to get more and more crowded as the week goes on.’ However, the footage revealed only about two dozen people near the stage, with vast empty green grass behind them.
Cain doubles down despite empty visuals
Cain insisted the event was well-attended, saying: ‘Everybody was like, “Oh, there’s nobody there”; there’s tons of people around here. And it’s going to get more and more crowded. But that’s divisive. I was trying to be, you know, unifying towards people. Look how great this is in our nation’s capital.’ The fair, held on Washington’s National Mall to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, was billed as a patriotic showcase with family attractions, live entertainment, and exhibits.
Event faces multiple issues
The Great American State Fair faced several problems. One photo from Saturday showed rows of empty chairs with just two people watching musician Jason Hershey. The fair lacked roller coasters or carnival rides, featuring only a 110-foot Ferris wheel and a plywood ‘Triumph Arch’. Trump became the headliner after several musicians pulled out, delivering a ‘rally to end all rallies’ with Marine Corps and Army bands.
Trump’s crowd claims contradicted
Trump claimed on Truth Social that the crowd was ‘packed to the brim’ with 45,000 attendees. However, photographs told a different story. NBC News reported attendance was ‘nowhere near’ that figure. The Washington Post noted the crowd ‘thinly covered an area about the length of the National Museum of American History, smaller than some summer outdoor movie screenings.’
