Trump Demands Probe into Epstein's Clinton and Democrat Links
Trump calls for Epstein-Clinton investigation

Former US President Donald Trump has declared he will instruct the Justice Department to launch an investigation into the alleged connections between the late paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and prominent Democratic figures, including former President Bill Clinton.

Trump's Call for Investigation

The announcement, made on Friday 14 November 2025, comes amidst renewed scrutiny of Mr Trump's own relationship with Epstein. This follows the release of a trove of 20,000 pages from Epstein's files earlier in the week, in which the former president's name was mentioned on multiple occasions.

In a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump labelled attempts to link him to Epstein a "hoax" and stated his intention to direct US Attorney General Pamela Bondi to examine the matter. He specifically named Bill Clinton, former treasury secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman as subjects for the proposed probe.

He wrote, "Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN... I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi... to investigate Jeffrey Epstein's involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions."

Context and Reactions

The three men named by Mr Trump were all referenced in the documents released by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. It is important to note that none of them have been accused of any wrongdoing in relation to the Epstein case.

Following Trump's statement, Attorney General Bondi confirmed on X that she would assign the investigation to Jay Clayton, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Representatives for the named individuals have previously addressed their alleged links to Epstein. A deputy chief of staff for Bill Clinton stated in 2019 that the former president "knows nothing about the terrible crimes" Epstein was accused of and had never visited his private properties.

Both Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman have publicly expressed regret over their associations with Epstein. Summers called it a "major error of judgement," while Hoffman said he was "deeply regretful" for any role in helping to repair Epstein's reputation.

A Political Firestorm

This development intensifies the political battle surrounding the Epstein case. Mr Trump explicitly framed the issue as a Democratic problem, asserting, "Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat's problem, not the Republican's problem!"

The call for an investigation ensures that the controversy surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's powerful associates will remain a focal point in the American political landscape, with fresh documents continuing to fuel debate and speculation.
