Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the disgraced music executive, has had his prison sentence extended by approximately one month following reports of him breaking facility rules at the low-security Fort Dix prison in New Jersey.
Extended incarceration and alleged violations
The 56-year-old's original release date of May 8, 2028 has now been pushed back to June 4, 2028, adding roughly four more weeks to his time behind bars. While prison authorities haven't officially confirmed the reason for the extension, multiple media outlets have reported concerning behaviour from the formerly high-profile musician.
According to TMZ, Combs was caught consuming homemade alcohol created from a mixture of Fanta, sugar and apples. Inmates reportedly ferment this combination for about two weeks to produce an alcoholic substance, which violates prison regulations.
Management denial and rehabilitation efforts
Combs' management team vehemently denied these allegations in a statement posted to his X profile on November 10. "The rumours claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false," the statement read. "His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family."
Prior to his sentencing, Combs had informed the court that he had achieved sobriety for the first time in 25 years, suggesting substance abuse issues contributed to his previous behaviour. His publicist, Juda Engelmayer, reinforced this commitment to rehabilitation, telling NBC News that Combs is dedicated to both sobriety and personal healing.
The music mogul has reportedly secured employment within the prison chapel library and enrolled in a drug rehabilitation programme that could potentially reduce his sentence by up to one year if completed successfully. Additionally, he has started teaching entrepreneurship classes to fellow inmates.
Additional disciplinary issues and transformed appearance
CBS News reported last week that Combs received a reprimand for participating in a prohibited three-way phone call. Prison documents indicate that Combs claimed ignorance of the specific regulations governing telephone usage.
Recent prison mugshots reveal a dramatically changed appearance for the former celebrity, who now sports grey hair on both his head and face. This marks a stark contrast to his previously polished image, where he was frequently seen wearing designer suits and sunglasses with dark hair during public appearances and red carpet events.
Combs was sentenced earlier this year to four years and two months in prison along with a $500,000 (£371,000) fine after being found guilty on two charges of transportation for prostitution. He had faced more serious allegations including sex trafficking and racketeering but pleaded not guilty to all charges.
