Mohammed Fatah, 29, from London, has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for his role in a violent brawl that involved weapons and left a person with serious injuries. The incident occurred in Southend, Essex, at approximately 5:30 PM on February 8 last year.
Three men arrested and charged
Fatah, along with Kisrape Karime, 26, of Southend, and Ali Maulood, 37, of Westcliff, were arrested on March 12 and subsequently charged. At Basildon Crown Court on June 19, Fatah and Karime admitted grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, while Maulood admitted affray.
During the sentencing hearing on July 24, Fatah received a prison term of two years and nine months. Karime was sentenced to two years and six months, and Maulood was given a year and two months. The court heard that the brawl took place in a public area, with weapons used during the altercation.
Police condemn the violence
Investigating officer Detective Constable Ryan Gibbs of Essex Police expressed his disapproval of the incident, stating: “This incident happened in a public place at a time when a lot of people would have been around. This type of incident is completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate it.” He added, “I am pleased our investigation has held these three men accountable and they have faced justice.”
