Brixton Drive-By Shooting: One Critical, Three Injured

Four people were taken to the hospital after a drive-by shooting in South London early Saturday morning, leaving one person in a life-threatening condition. The incident occurred on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton at approximately 1:15 a.m. on May 2, when police received reports of multiple shots fired from a vehicle.

Victims and Injuries

Upon arrival, officers discovered four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. A 25-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition. Three other victims, aged 21, 47, and 70, were also transported to the hospital. Their injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police Investigation

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, described the shooting as an act of indiscriminate violence. He stated: 'We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible. This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice.'

Forensic officers have been scouring the scene within a cordon, and images from the location show a lime bike lying within the police tape. A paramedic bag was also left at the scene. Specialist officers responded within four minutes of the call.

Community Impact

The shooting occurred just a few meters from where 22-year-old Keelen Wong was stabbed to death in 2023. No arrests have been made yet. Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Bhangoo added: 'It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation comes forward.'
