Durham Constabulary has confirmed that 12-year-old Jaxon Robert Hubery died from injuries sustained after falling from a barn roof in Woodhouses, near Bishop Auckland, County Durham, on July 24, 2026. He was climbing on the roof with friends when he plunged to the ground.
Incident details
The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 pm on Friday, July 24. The North East Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance crew, a clinical team leader, a rapid response paramedic, and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Jaxon was taken by road to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
Police investigation
Durham Constabulary is working with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. A police spokesperson said: 'His family would like to thank those who have given them love and support throughout the last few days. They are also urging other parents to keep their children away from the area.'
Family appeal
Jaxon's family has asked for privacy and urged the public to avoid the area. The police spokesperson added: 'Police are working alongside the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.'
