Sharon Osbourne has publicly shared the touching gesture made by King Charles III following the death of her husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, describing the monarch as an "amazing" and compassionate figure who personally reached out to her family during their time of grief.
A Royal Comfort in Time of Grief
The Black Sabbath frontman passed away in July at the age of 76, leaving behind his wife Sharon and their children. During an emotional episode of The Osbournes podcast, the family revealed they received a handwritten letter of condolence from King Charles that provided significant comfort during their difficult period.
"We got a lovely letter from the king," revealed Jack Osbourne, the couple's son, during the family discussion about the support they'd received following his father's passing.
Sharon Osbourne expressed deep admiration for the monarch, stating: "Our King is an amazing person. He is an amazing person, not just because he wrote to us when Ozzy passed, but if he did it for us, know he does it for many, many, many people."
Longstanding Royal Connection
This wasn't the first time Charles had shown concern for the Osbourne family. Sharon disclosed that the then-Prince of Wales had previously contacted them in 2003 after Ozzy suffered severe injuries in a quad bike accident that left him fighting for his life.
"He's got a good heart. He didn't have to do certain things that he's done for Ozzy," Sharon reflected emotionally. "He is a good, caring man with a good heart. We respect him, we respect his family."
The 73-year-old family matriarch emphasized the significance of the royal gesture, noting that Charles had taken time out of his demanding schedule to write the note and have it hand-delivered to the grieving family.
Unexpected Support from Donald Trump
The Osbourne family also received unexpected condolences from across the Atlantic, with former US President Donald Trump leaving a personal voicemail message for Sharon.
In the recording played during the podcast, Trump could be heard saying: "Hi, Sharon, it's Donald Trump, and I just wanted to wish you the best. Ozzy was amazing. He was an amazing guy. I met him a few times, and I want to tell you he was unique in every way and talented."
The former president continued: "So I just wanted to wish you the best, and it's a tough thing. I know how close you were, and whatever I can do. Take care of yourself. Say hello to the family."
Jack Osbourne acknowledged the gesture despite potential controversy, commenting: "Love him or hate him, he didn't have to call and leave a voicemail."
Sharon, who finished third on Trump's Celebrity Apprentice programme in 2010, also praised the former president and his wife Melania Trump, describing them as consistently respectful and gracious in their interactions with her family over the years.
The Osbourne family's revelations highlight the unexpected connections that form in times of tragedy and the comfort that public figures can provide through simple, personal gestures of condolence.
