New Victorian Premier Ben Carroll has announced his first major action in office: a royal commission into the construction sector. Speaking alongside his newly appointed deputy premier, Gabrielle Williams, Carroll detailed the initiative as a cornerstone of his leadership.
Royal Commission and Special Prosecutor
Carroll stated that the royal commission would investigate the construction industry, and he would also establish a special prosecutor to work in parallel with the commission. This dual approach aims to address systemic issues within the sector.
A New Direction
In a clear break from his predecessors, Carroll emphasized his distinct leadership style. “Let me make one thing very clear: I am not Daniel Andrews. I am not Jacinta Allan. I will do things differently, because different times require a new approach,” he said. The move signals a shift in governance priorities under Carroll’s premiership.
