The local elections on May 7 will determine which councillors will represent Waltham Forest on local issues. The party with the most seats will also appoint a Council Leader to lead the council and make executive decisions.
Labour currently holds a comfortable majority in Waltham Forest with 45 out of 60 seats. Conservatives have 13 seats and Independents have two. The leader of the council has been Labour's Grace Williams since September 2021. Labour has been the majority party in the borough since 2010.
A YouGov poll for Sky News projects that the Green Party will win most seats in Waltham Forest, putting an end to Labour's 16-year control.
