Two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of 24-year-old Kariem Abdelhalim, who died following a crash in North Kensington last week. Charles Egonye, 19, of Wulfstan Street, and a 17-year-old boy from the Southall area, who cannot be named due to his age, were arrested on Monday and charged on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, September 30.
Police called to North Pole Road
Police were called to North Pole Road at 1.20am on Friday, September 25, following reports that a man had been found seriously injured in the road. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, but Kariem was pronounced dead at the scene, and a murder investigation was subsequently launched.
Detectives believe that Kariem, who was riding an e-bike, was being pursued by a moped shortly before the collision. The e-bike involved in the collision was left strewn on the ground in North Pole Road, according to an image from the scene.
Appearance at Highbury Magistrates' Court
The pair appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, September 30. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “Since Kariem’s death, detectives have been working at pace, to build a picture of the events that night.
“I encourage anyone who has information in relation to Kariem’s death to contact us. Any information could be vital in our investigation and help provide much-needed answers for Kariem’s family.”

The investigation continues as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding Kariem's death. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to assist the inquiry.
