A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a late-night fight in Islington that was spotted by CCTV operators. Police were alerted to an altercation at the junction of Packington Street and Essex Road shortly before 1am on Saturday, September 26.
Arrest and Hospitalisation
A patrol team rushed to the scene, but the group involved had already left by the time they arrived. Further enquiries led officers to an injured 19-year-old who was allegedly part of the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement this afternoon. The man was subsequently taken to hospital, where his condition was deemed neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
Road Closures and Diversions
Part of Essex Road has been cordoned off for most of the day, causing several London Bus routes to be diverted through the surrounding area. A long stretch of blue-and-white tape was set up along Essex Road, as well as the adjacent St Mary's Path and a section of Upper Street.
