President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will be endorsing a candidate for the Texas Senate race later in the day. The announcement came during an impromptu news conference held against the backdrop of the ongoing construction of a proposed ballroom at the White House.
Ballroom Construction Details
Trump showed reporters the progress of the ballroom construction, emphasizing that the project is funded entirely by his own money and donations. "This is all my money and donor's money. This is tax free," he stated. He described the ballroom as a gift to the country, noting that it is built with titanium, which he called "the strongest of all the metals, much stronger than steel." Trump claimed that the ballroom would prevent incidents like those at the White House Correspondents' Dinner from occurring in the future.
Foreign Policy Remarks
While holding a large photo of the planned ballroom, Trump addressed questions on US foreign policy. Regarding Cuba, he said, "Look, Cuba is calling us. They need help. Cuba is a failed nation." On Iran, amid the sounds of construction, Trump stated he had agreed to give Iran "maybe until early next week" to reach a deal with the US. He added, "I won't let the world be blown up on my watch," referring to Iran's nuclear program.
Criticism of Congressman Massie
Trump also criticized Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, who is facing a primary challenge from a Trump-endorsed candidate in Kentucky. Trump called Massie "the worst congressman" and claimed he is "not even Republican."
Texas Senate Endorsement
Trump confirmed he would endorse a candidate for the Texas Senate race later in the afternoon. He expressed confidence in his influence, saying, "There are those that say whoever I endorse will win. But I don't like to say that, I don't like to brag."
