Elon Musk Backs Restore Britain Party Vowing to Destroy Establishment

Elon Musk has thrown his support behind Rupert Lowe's new political party, Restore Britain, after it pledged to 'dismantle' the establishment. The Tesla founder, based in the US, has been a fierce critic of the current Labour government, using his platform on X to attack its political record. In his latest intervention in British politics, Musk showed approval for the right-wing party.

Rupert Lowe's New Party

Mr Lowe founded Restore Britain after being suspended from Reform UK last year. The MP for Great Yarmouth registered the party with the Electoral Commission in early 2026. Its local affiliate, Great Yarmouth First, won all 10 seats it contested in the local elections earlier this month, securing nine seats on Norfolk County Council and one on Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

Lowe's Vow to Tear Apart the State

In a post on X, Mr Lowe vowed to 'tear apart and rebuild' the state, warning that many 'all-powerful bureaucrats' would be sent to prison under his plans. He stated: 'Restore Britain is not going to merely reform the establishment – we are going to destroy it. The system will be dismantled, the state will be torn apart and rebuilt as one that serves the people it always should have done – the British people. The permanent Westminster machine that has grown rich and comfortable while Britain became poorer, weaker, more divided and less safe is biting back. Is that any surprise?'

Musk's Endorsement

Reposting Lowe's rant, Musk, who formerly headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump, simply said: 'Restore Britain.' Musk has previously publicly supported British far-right campaigner Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), whose recent Unite the Kingdom rally in London on May 16 is thought to have attracted 60,000 attendees. He has also allegedly considered donating to Reform in the past.

Rifts with Farage

However, rifts opened between Musk and Reform party leader Nigel Farage after Musk said the Brexit pioneer did not have 'what it takes' to lead the country. Musk has also previously thrown his weight behind Advance UK, another right-wing party set up by Reform defector Ben Habib. In August 2025, Musk wrote that Advance would 'drive change' and branded Farage 'weak sauce'.

Broader European Support

As well as backing right-wing parties in the UK, Musk has also lent his support to populist factions elsewhere in Europe, including Spain's Vox party and Germany's AfD. His interventions continue to stir controversy in British and European politics.
