Zelensky Warns of Major European War by 2030 as Russia Builds Forces
Zelensky: Russia planning big European war by 2030

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a stark warning that Russia is actively preparing to launch a major war against Europe between 2029 and 2030, calling for immediate action from Western allies.

Growing Military Threat

Speaking about the escalating situation, Zelensky emphasised that Russia shows no intention of ending its current military campaign and is instead ramping up its weapons production capacity. "Given the situation on the battlefield, we don't see Russia wanting to stop," the President stated during his address.

He further explained that intelligence assessments indicate Moscow is building toward a much larger conflict. "We think that if we push hard, the Russians will need a pause. But we have to recognize that they want a big war, they are preparing to be able to start such a big war in 2029 or 2030 - in this period - on the European continent."

International Response and Warnings

Zelensky's alarming prediction comes alongside similar concerns from high-ranking European defence and intelligence officials, including from the United Kingdom. Multiple sources have indicated that the Kremlin is plotting another land grab on the continent, urging NATO members to prepare for potential war scenarios.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that current measures against Russia - including sanctions, military aid to Ukraine, and attempted negotiations - have proven insufficient to deter Vladimir Putin's ambitions. This has led to renewed calls for increased pressure on Moscow and enhanced defensive preparations across Europe.

Immediate Diplomatic Action

Within hours of Zelensky's Telegram statement, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha was scheduled to travel to London for urgent talks with his British counterpart. This rapid diplomatic movement underscores the seriousness with which allies are treating the warning.

The heightened alert comes as Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine. The besieged city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region remains the focal point of intense fighting, accounting for nearly half of all frontline clashes in recent days.

Russian defence ministry reports confirm significant territorial gains over the past month, including:

  • Nine settlements captured in Donetsk
  • Eight villages taken in Zaporizhzhia region
  • Seven locations secured in Dnipropetrovsk region
  • Five areas occupied in Kharkiv region

This deteriorating battlefield situation, combined with intelligence about Russia's long-term military preparations, has created what European officials describe as an urgent need for enhanced defensive capabilities across the continent.
