Medical teams on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! are reportedly on high alert as hazardous jungle conditions pose potential health risks to contestants, with particular concerns raised for Jack Osbourne and his multiple sclerosis.
Jungle climate sparks health fears
Just hours after the ITV reality show launched its latest series, the camp has been battling exceptionally high humidity levels that are causing discomfort and health concerns. The celebrity campmates, including Emmerdale's Lisa Riley, Loose Women's Kelly Brook, rapper Aitch, Jack Osbourne, AngryGinge, and former footballer Alex Scott, have been thrown into what producers are calling the "toughest" series yet.
A source revealed to The Sun that humidity in the Australian jungle has risen at a rate of 20 percent higher than average for this time of year, with temperatures regularly exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. "The celebs have been hit with some of the worst Australia has to offer this year from the word go," the insider explained.
Specific concerns for Jack Osbourne's condition
The sweltering conditions present particular challenges for Jack Osbourne, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012. According to the NHS, MS is an incurable condition affecting the brain and spinal cord that can cause extreme fatigue, muscle cramps, numbness, and vision problems. High temperatures and humidity are known to exacerbate these symptoms.
Osbourne received his diagnosis after experiencing numbness in his legs and sight loss in one eye. Despite his condition, the father-of-four has maintained an active lifestyle, even reaching the final of Dancing with the Stars in 2013 to champion awareness about staying active with MS.
This isn't the first time health concerns have affected Osbourne's television appearances. In 2023, he was forced to withdraw from Special Forces: World's Toughest Test when his elevated heart rate alarmed show doctors, though he later told Entertainment Weekly that "the show's doctors were more concerned than I was."
Medical precautions in place
Despite the challenging conditions, the show's medical team has implemented measures to protect all celebrities. These include special water-activated cooling towels designed to prevent fainting in the extreme heat.
"When it's like this, it's seriously uncomfortable just to breathe in - let alone do any form of physical activity like they'll have to do to keep camp moving," the source added, describing the situation as a "baptism of fire" for the new campmates.
Another source reassured that the production is "well prepared for situations like this," indicating that despite the concerning conditions, appropriate safety protocols are firmly in place to monitor all contestants throughout their jungle experience.
