Matthew Perry's Friends Scripts and Art Auctioned for Addiction Charity
Matthew Perry's Belongings Auctioned for Charity

Items belonging to the late actor Matthew Perry, including signed Friends scripts, a custom Batman ping-pong table, and a replica of the peephole from Monica and Rachel's apartment, are being auctioned to benefit the charitable foundation established in his name.

Auction Details

The auction, hosted by Heritage Auctions on 5 June, will support the Matthew Perry Foundation, which aims to destigmatize addiction and aid recovery. Perry, who died in 2023 at age 54 from the acute effects of ketamine, had long struggled with substance abuse.

“Matthew believed addiction should be met with compassion and science, not stigma and silence,” said Lisa Kasteler Calio, the foundation's chief executive. “This auction fuels the foundation’s work to expand access to evidence-based care and confront stigma.”

Background

Perry played Chandler Bing on Friends from 1994 to 2004, becoming a television icon. In his 2022 memoir, he credited the show’s success and cast support for helping him cope with addiction. He legally used ketamine for depression but later sought it from multiple sources.

Five individuals pleaded guilty in connection with Perry's death. Two doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, and “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha, who received a 15-year sentence, have been sentenced. Perry's assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and Erik Fleming await sentencing.

Exhibition and Sale

The auction site opened Tuesday. Items will be displayed in Beverly Hills from 18-29 May before the live and online auction at Heritage Auctions’ Dallas showroom on 5 June. Net proceeds support the Matthew Perry Foundation’s initiatives.
