British Naturism has established a 'beach code' for visitors, emphasizing that the only difference between a naturist beach and a regular beach is the dress code. The code explicitly states that behavior should otherwise remain unchanged, and it prohibits being a nuisance, respecting people's space, avoiding exhibitionism, and refraining from confronting or approaching clothed individuals.
The National Trust warns that any indecent behavior 'will not be tolerated,' with offenders facing prosecution, including those misusing photographic or filming equipment and drones. Such devices may be confiscated as evidence. Police and rangers patrol the beach regularly to ensure safety and address concerns.
Facilities and Access
Facilities at the naturist beach are minimal. The nearest car parks are at Shell Bay and Knoll Beach, requiring a 20-30 minute walk. Daytime parking is available on Ferry Road, from where visitors can walk across the Studland and Godlingston Heath National Nature Reserve in about 15 minutes. There are no toilets at the naturist area, but facilities exist at Shell Bay and further along Knoll Beach. A café near the Knoll Beach car park offers paninis, pasties, ice cream, and coffees.
Swimmers should note that no lifeguards are on duty, so caution is advised. The beach's remote nature adds to its appeal, but visitors must come prepared.
