Islington Festive Bin Collection Changes: Dates & Tree Drop-Off Points
Islington Christmas bin collection changes 2025

Residents in the north London borough of Islington are being advised of significant changes to their regular waste and recycling collection schedules over the upcoming festive period.

Revised Collection Dates for Festive Period

Due to the bank holidays, Islington Council will not be operating its normal collection services. This means that all scheduled pick-ups for mixed recycling, food waste, garden waste, and general rubbish will be pushed back by one day later than usual.

This adjustment affects all households in the borough. Residents are urged to note their new collection days to ensure their bins are put out on time. The council has confirmed that normal collection services will fully resume from Monday 5 January 2026.

Christmas Tree Recycling Service

For those with real Christmas trees, the council is running a special collection service. Trees will be picked up from outside homes on the usual collection day, but only during a specific two-week window.

This dedicated collection will run from Monday 5 January until Friday 16 January 2026. Residents should place their real trees outside for collection on their normal waste day within this period.

Local Drop-Off Points for Christmas Trees

Alternatively, locals can take their trees directly to one of several designated recycling points across Islington. The council has listed the following parks and locations as drop-off sites:

  • Barnard Park
  • Elthorne Park
  • King’s Square Gardens
  • Rosemary Gardens
  • Wray Park Crescent (at the park end)
  • Spa Fields
  • Tufnell Park
  • Highbury Crescent
  • Paradise Park

The council is also reminding residents to play their part in reducing festive waste. A spokesperson said: "Please also remember to do your bit for the environment by recycling your food waste when you’re making Christmas dinner!"

By planning ahead and using these services, Islington households can ensure a smoother waste disposal process during the holidays and contribute to the borough's recycling efforts.
