Ealing Festive Bin Collection Changes: Revised Dates Until Jan 19
Ealing Christmas bin collection dates and tree recycling

Residents across the London Borough of Ealing are being advised of significant changes to their regular waste and recycling collection schedules over the festive period. The council has confirmed that revised timetables will be in operation until Monday, January 19, as collection crews take time off for public holidays.

Revised Bin Collection Dates for Christmas and New Year

Collections due on Christmas Eve will proceed as normal. However, significant adjustments begin on Christmas Day itself. If your collection was scheduled for Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day), it will now be collected on Monday, December 29.

For those with a typical Friday collection, the Boxing Day (Friday, December 26) pickup is moved to Tuesday, December 30. All collections originally planned for Monday, December 29, are pushed back to Wednesday, December 31.

The delays extend into the New Year period. Tuesday, December 30 collections face a three-day shift to Friday, January 2. Waste due for collection on New Year's Eve (Wednesday, December 31) will now be picked up on Saturday, January 3.

As New Year's Day (Thursday, January 1) is a bank holiday, no collections will occur. Any bins scheduled for that day will be collected five days later on Monday, January 5.

Further Delays in Early January

The disruption continues into the first full week of January. Friday, January 2 collections are rescheduled for Tuesday, January 6, while Monday, January 5 pickups move to Wednesday, January 7.

For the rest of the week commencing January 5, all collections will run two days later than usual. A final round of minor delays affects the week of Monday, January 12, where all collections will be just one day behind the standard schedule.

Normal service resumes fully from Monday, January 19.

Free Christmas Tree Recycling Service

Alongside the revised bin rounds, Ealing Council is operating its annual free Christmas tree disposal scheme. Residents who use the standard black and blue wheeled bin service can leave their real trees at the front edge of their property for collection between Monday, January 5, and Friday, January 23.

Trees will be collected on the same day as your revised black bin (general waste) collection, operating on an alternate-week basis. The council has set specific guidelines for this service:

  • All decorations, including tinsel and baubles, must be removed.
  • Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter.
  • Trees should be no taller than six feet; taller trees can be cut into two sections.

Residents living in flats or using communal bin services are not eligible for kerbside collection. They must take their real trees to one of the designated council parks or open spaces. This drop-off service also runs until Friday, January 23.

Staying Informed
